Issued in the United States on 2 July 2011 by Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) as Kendrick Lamar’s debut studio album. The original program contains sixteen tracks, beginning with “Fuck Your Ethnicity” and concluding with “HiiiPoWeR,” a track produced by J. Cole.

Edition & Variant Identification

Early Top Dawg Entertainment autographed CDr edition. The disc face carries the TDE logo, artist name and name of the LP, “SECTION 80,” with Lamar’s autograph (featuring his first initial and full last name) above the printed text.

Signed copies of this CD were sold directly through TDE and are considered promotional. The stock CD case, cover image, and track listing are absent.

Physical Description

Standard CDr with custom TDE logo, and vertically printed artist and title. Kendrick Lamar’s autograph appears in black ink across the upper portion of the disc.

The disc is held in a clear PSA/DNA hard-plastic holder with certification number 85443453. The CD-case and cover card were not slabbed and are missing.

Factory-Origin Characteristics

The TDE logo and vertically arranged “KENDRICK LAMAR / SECTION 80” text form the edition’s principal manufacturing identifiers. The absence of a catalogue number is consistent with the corresponding online CDr entry.

The autograph is an artist-applied inscription, and the PSA/DNA holder is later archival encapsulation. Neither constitutes a factory-origin characteristic. No other manufacturing distinctions have been verified.

Condition Report

The disc is Mint condition and the autograph pristine. Lamar commonly signs with only his initials, making the fully spelled-out last name a rarity. PSA/DNA has authenticated the autograph and encapsulated the CD.

Market Context & Historical Notes

Section.80 is where Kendrick Lamar became an album artist. His mixtapes under the K.Dot name and his 2009 Kendrick Lamar EP had established his technical ability and growing place within the Top Dawg circle; Section.80 catapulted him to the next level. Released independently before TDE’s 2012 agreement with Interscope and Aftermath, the album sold approximately 5,000 digital units during its first week and entered the Billboard 200 at number 113. At its August 2011 Los Angeles release celebration, Snoop Dogg, the Game, Warren G, and Kurupt publicly placed the West Coast mantle on Lamar’s shoulders.

The architecture of Lamar’s mature work is already present. “A.D.H.D.” examines a generation formed in the aftermath of the Reagan era and the crack epidemic; “Tammy’s Song” and “Keisha’s Song” turn social conditions into individual lives; “Kush & Corinthians” treats morality as a lived conflict; and “HiiiPoWeR” joins personal discipline, historical study, and political awakening. The album’s movement between character, confession, public history, and spiritual inquiry became the foundation for good kid, m.A.A.d city, To Pimp a Butterfly, and DAMN., which received the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Music.

The signed CDr gives physical form to the independent TDE stage of that history. Digital distribution built the album’s first audience, while these sparsely documented discs became tangible evidence of its early circulation. Section.80 reached RIAA platinum certification in January 2026, fifteen years after its modest chart debut. The OMMA copy unites the early physical edition with Lamar’s authenticated signature, although the signing date remains undocumented. Its $1,000 acquisition provides a direct market benchmark; the limited supply of exact, certified, disc-only comparables prevents a high-confidence broader valuation.

Within OMMA, the object occupies Lamar’s first-studio-album and pre-major-label position. Earlier K.Dot recordings, mixtapes, and the 2009 Kendrick Lamar EP precede it. Its Core A designation applies provisionally to the scarce signed CDr variant, whose production quantity and original distribution remain undocumented..
