Nothin’ on You / Airplanes
Bruno Mars was already writing hits for other performers when “Nothin’ on You” introduced his voice to a much wider audience. His sung refrain gave B.o.B’s single its affectionate centre, bringing a songwriter into the spotlight. [1]

Release history and significance
Mars described the song’s beginning simply: he felt like writing a love song. In an October 2010 interview, he explained that his writing followed his mood, moving freely between styles. “Nothin’ on You” and the reggae-inflected “Billionaire” were different expressions of that approach. [1]
Performing came first for Mars. He remembered wanting to play drums like his father, then guitar and vocals like his uncle. Long before the studio became his workplace, the stage felt like home. By 2010 he was combining that background with his work in the songwriting and production team the Smeezingtons. [1]
This Atlantic twelve-inch brings together two B.o.B singles. Side A contains “Nothin’ on You,” featuring Mars and produced by the Smeezingtons, in album and instrumental versions. Side B carries three versions of “Airplanes,” featuring Hayley Williams and produced by Alex Da Kid. [2]
