Section.80
Issued independently in 2011, Section.80 gave Kendrick Lamar’s stories about his generation the shape of a full studio album. This early TDE CDr carries his signature and preserves the album’s physical form alongside its digital release. [1] [3]

Release history and significance
Lamar returned to the small Carson studio where he had recorded since sixteen to make the album. [2]
Section.80 followed the K.Dot mixtapes, the Kendrick Lamar EP and Overly Dedicated. Across sixteen tracks, it moves from “Fuck Your Ethnicity” to the J. Cole-produced “HiiiPoWeR.” The signed CDr edition was distributed through Top Dawg Entertainment’s online store with a clear sleeve and printed cover card. [1]
The album’s subjects extend beyond individual autobiography. “A.D.H.D.” considers the emptiness of constant partying, “Ronald Reagan Era” the legacy of the drug crisis, and “Kush & Corinthians” questions of faith and judgement. These concerns recur in the albums that followed, including good kid, m.A.A.d city, To Pimp a Butterfly and DAMN. [3]
