Release history and significance
Fritz grew from a high-school performance into a working band. The group’s own history recalls Stevie Nicks joining through a friend at the College of San Mateo in 1967. Brian Kane then auditioned at Lindsey Buckingham’s house, and the five musicians began working together on Top-40 material. [2]
Sessions at Action Recorders in San Mateo gave the band an early experience of making records. FleetwoodMac.net identifies the B-side, Javier Pacheco’s “You Don’t Get Young Anymore,” as a fall 1967 Action recording with Buckingham on lead vocal. The A-side is the Bacharach-David song “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” shortened on the label. [1] [2]
Karma released the two performances as Sincerely, San Jose in 1968. The unfamiliar artist name obscured a recording now placed within the Fritz–Buckingham Nicks–Fleetwood Mac history. Why that name was used is not documented. [1] [3]
