Release history and significance

The shop was Disco King in Mouscron, run by Jean-François’s father, Roger Samyn. Its stock connected the studio to new dance records from abroad. Sanchioni had an instrumental he liked, but wanted a voice to complete it. [1]

In Samyn’s account, dancer Valérie Honoré supplied the female vocal after being invited to try a short part in the studio. Giuseppe Chierchia, better known as Pino D’Angiò, contributed the male voice. Those contrasting sounds became part of the record’s identity. [1]

The 1990 Belgian twelve-inch contains four original versions. Its later reputation grew enormously through Jam & Spoon’s 1992 remix, but this edition captures the piece before that reworking. [1] [2]
